Topic Picker

In this article, you'll learn how the new search works and how to get the most out of it.

What's new in the Topic Picker?

Instead of only searching for exact terms, our system also understands the meaning behind your search query (semantic search). For you, this means:

  • More relevant results: You find exactly the topic you're looking for, even if you don't know the exact title.

  • Faster selection: The interface has been optimized to reduce friction when creating learning plans.

  • Combined search: The system uses both keywords and contextual relationships to give you the best suggestions.

How to use the new search, step by step

The new search is built right into your usual workflow.

  1. Open the search field: Click the search field of the Topic Picker when:

    • Creating a learning plan

    • Creating a test

    • Creating a practice session

  2. Enter a term: Type your topic or a related keyword.

    • Filter results: Use the automatic suggestions that appear while you type.

  3. Select a topic: Click the topic you want to add it right away.

Tips for the best search results

  • Use whole terms: Even though the search is smarter now, clear terms like "photosynthesis" or "stochastics" get you there fastest.

  • Explore subject areas: If you're not sure, try more general terms to get a list of related topics.

Important: If you can't find a topic, quickly check the spelling or try a synonym. We are constantly working to keep the index up to date.
